Another new source of pollution to be exposed to in the
region:
The proposed waste coal to clean fuels plant is another bad idea
to help kill us and our neighbors, give us mercury poisoning and further drive
down property values. It is sited here because we meet the
Cerrel plan
criteria for choosing sites for hazardous facilities which means that we are
less inclined to try to stop the facility because of religious beliefs, low
income, and several other factors. They think we are poor and stupid in other
words. It is about making money and receiving hundreds of millions of state and
federal funding at the expense of the area citizen's health.
Over half a million tons of toxic slag and a quarter ton of mercury a year
doesn't sound healthy. Where do you think that the waste will go Will it be called strip mine reclamation and scatter it all over the region? What
happens when the contaminated water is removed from the Gilberton mine pool and converted to steam? Besides toxins in
the steam, who's property vanishes into the mines first? How about we don't find
out.
Learn for yourself and make your own educated decision. Get involved
and help save a neighbor's life. Learn a little more who the major players are and
just how responsible the are or are not at other facilities they operate. Tell
your friends to get involved spread the word and spread the truth. Attend
meetings and stand proud and let your voice be heard.
Your tax dollars fund this project that will result in emissions that are
potentially very dangerous, especially to the young and elderly. Is it the culm or garbage they want to burn?
Do a little research. Learn the facts and
formulate your own opinion. Become active for the betterment of your community and stand
up for a cleaner local environment and look after the health of our senior citizens
and children who are relying on us all to protect them from harm.
